Beach Trip

We packed up last Thursday and headed to Ft. Walton to spend a few days with Brian & Susan (Alan's parents). When I say we 'packed up' I literally mean it. I forgot all the things you have to pack when you take a baby somewhere. We borrowed my dad's trailblazer and still had to use an extra carrier on the back. I should have taken a picture of the car because it was crazy how much stuff we fit in it. I rode in the backseat between the boys because Jake tends to get mad and scream if he can't see anyone when he is in the car. We found out on the trip to and from the beach that Jake gets car sick. Poor baby! He obviously got this trait straight from Uncle J because neither one of them can ride backwards in a car without getting sick! Luckily Jake's was not bad and it was just that he could not keep a full bottle down when driving so he just ate less those days!

On the first full day Susan volunteered to keep Jake so Alan and I could take Sam to the beach. I don't think we could have done it if we would have had Jake too because Sam had to have his sandtoys, plus chairs, plus an umbrella (which had 2 holes in it once we took it all the way down to the beach and set it up), plus towels, and a cooler. Sam did not like the ocean because "it went backwards"! I thought it was hilarious. He decided to play in the sand which only lasted about 30 minutes until he HAD to have his hands washed! He kept begging to go up to the shower to clean them but I knew once we got up there he would NEVER leave so I emptied the cooler and filled it up in the ocean which was fine with Sam! We only lasted about 3 hours on the beach because Sam had had enough sand (my OCD child) so we went back to Brian's and took a nap before dinner at Lucky Snapper. After dinner we went to The Track and Sam had a blast! He rode the airplanes and then he rode the teacup ride - twice! I don't understand how I can have one child that gets car sick and the other that can handle the teacup ride!! Crazy!

The second day we laid around all morning and since our first trip to the beach was unsuccessful we decided to take the boys to the Gulfarium which was a hit! Sam had a great time and Jake just looked around at everything! We went and had lunch/dinner at the Back Porch - sorry Dad but I did have an Amberjack Sandwich for you and Alan had some raw oysters for you too!

Anyway, we had a great trip and really appreciated Brian & Susan letting us crash with them this weekend!!
