Jake's 6 Month Doctor Visit

We took Jake for his 6 month checkup yesterday. He is 19.7lbs and 27.5" long which is 80% for both weight and height. The doctor said he is healthy and doing exactly what he should be doing at 6 months old. He had 4 shots and did not like them at all. His face turned red and he got really mad. Once I picked him up though the tears stopped and he started laughing as we walked out of the office! He's a trooper!

When we got home I immediately went to check Sam's baby book to see what his measurements were at 6 months because I would have bet that Jake was longer. I was wrong! Sam weighed 21.8lbs and was 28.5" long and in the 90th percentile. I guess I just forgot what a big baby Sam was but then again Jake is not that far behind him. I can say that Jake does not have the head that Sam has and probably never will!

YEA for Sam!

I am so proud of Sam! He is finally potty trained! We cut it a little close on getting him officially potty trained because he could not have started 3K in September until he was able to go the potty by himself. I took a day off work on Thursday, July 2nd and told him that he was no longer wearing pullups and that he'd be wearing big boy pants.

He has been using the potty for 13 days and we are now on our 9th day without an accident!!! He only had 3 accidents since he started using the potty!

He also learned on Friday how to stand up to t-t (at first he was sitting down to t-t)! He thinks its funny that when he t-t's standing up it makes bubbles!! We did reward him with chocolate/m&m's when he goes to the potty which has been a big hit! I went last night to get an M&M out of the jar and he said "Momma did you go potty because you can't have one until you go potty"! Needless to say I put the lid back on the jar and walked away because I did not have to go potty!

Jake is 6 Months Old

I can't believe it but Jake is 6 months old today! He has changed so much in the past few months! He is learning to sit up by himself and he is starting to scoot (he goes backwards but at least he's moving)! He also rolls EVERYWHERE! Sunday he was about to roll into the kitchen and Sam ran over to him and grabbed his legs and pulled him back into the middle of the den! It was hilarious and Jake just grinned the whole time. Jake is learning to put up with his brother but I don't think it will be long until Sam gets his payback!

Jake's new trick is to blow bubbles. He is constantly making some of the funniest noises with his mouth. He also says "dadadadada".

Jake is also eating baby food at every meal and loves it! So far he is not a picky eater! This past weekend I started putting him in his highchair to eat and he gets so excited because he knows its time to eat! He is not a messy eater at all. He is a bit greedy because he eats every drop of every bite and grunts for more if you are not fast enough between bites! He is eating either 2 fruits or 1 fruit and 1 vegetable at each meal along with a 4-6oz bottle which is great because he is only eating 3 times a day now instead of 4! He does get a juice bottle late in the afternoon to keep him content until dinner!

I am taking Jake for his 6 month visit tomorrow so I will post his measurements later this week.

Where has the summer gone?

Below are some of my favorite pics lately! I can't believe how fast this summer is going by! Jake is 5 1/2 months old and Sam is just well Sam! Below are a few pictures of what we have been up to this summer!

Jake has started yelling at Sam when Sam start aggravating ! I think it's hilarious!

Once Jake is done yelling and big brother goes away he is content again!

Jake is enjoying his new float (in the den while watching cartoons)! He has learned to relax at an early age!

Jake playing with his new float! He did get in the pool with it and loved it! But I think he likes it better in the house!
Sam is pretending to be mommy because I actually got in the pool one day and got some sun while he played.

Sam had some friends over and he LOVED riding them around in his jeep! Joy loved riding the jeep with Sam and Parker loved riding in the back! Crazy Parker!

Beach Trip

We packed up last Thursday and headed to Ft. Walton to spend a few days with Brian & Susan (Alan's parents). When I say we 'packed up' I literally mean it. I forgot all the things you have to pack when you take a baby somewhere. We borrowed my dad's trailblazer and still had to use an extra carrier on the back. I should have taken a picture of the car because it was crazy how much stuff we fit in it. I rode in the backseat between the boys because Jake tends to get mad and scream if he can't see anyone when he is in the car. We found out on the trip to and from the beach that Jake gets car sick. Poor baby! He obviously got this trait straight from Uncle J because neither one of them can ride backwards in a car without getting sick! Luckily Jake's was not bad and it was just that he could not keep a full bottle down when driving so he just ate less those days!

On the first full day Susan volunteered to keep Jake so Alan and I could take Sam to the beach. I don't think we could have done it if we would have had Jake too because Sam had to have his sandtoys, plus chairs, plus an umbrella (which had 2 holes in it once we took it all the way down to the beach and set it up), plus towels, and a cooler. Sam did not like the ocean because "it went backwards"! I thought it was hilarious. He decided to play in the sand which only lasted about 30 minutes until he HAD to have his hands washed! He kept begging to go up to the shower to clean them but I knew once we got up there he would NEVER leave so I emptied the cooler and filled it up in the ocean which was fine with Sam! We only lasted about 3 hours on the beach because Sam had had enough sand (my OCD child) so we went back to Brian's and took a nap before dinner at Lucky Snapper. After dinner we went to The Track and Sam had a blast! He rode the airplanes and then he rode the teacup ride - twice! I don't understand how I can have one child that gets car sick and the other that can handle the teacup ride!! Crazy!

The second day we laid around all morning and since our first trip to the beach was unsuccessful we decided to take the boys to the Gulfarium which was a hit! Sam had a great time and Jake just looked around at everything! We went and had lunch/dinner at the Back Porch - sorry Dad but I did have an Amberjack Sandwich for you and Alan had some raw oysters for you too!

Anyway, we had a great trip and really appreciated Brian & Susan letting us crash with them this weekend!!

Sam's Last Day at School

Sam's last day of MDO was yesterday! They had water day and got to wear their bathing suits and bring a non-motorized/battery operated riding toy for a carwash! I sure am glad they limited the riding toys or he would have had me load up his big jeep to take! He had so much fun and came home with a sandbucket full of summer toys to keep him busy (mostly bubbles)! This picture was taken right before we left for school! He has his usual picture taking mad face on!!

At the beginning of each year the school sends out its supply list. Each year they have disposable camera on the list. They take pictures throughout the year of your child and at the end of the year you get the camera so you can develop the pics. Well, surprise, Sam had some hilarious pics on the camera. I scanned them onto my computer so I could have them to “keep” because once he gets his hands on them tonight they may be bent! I also have the film so I can get reprints!

Sam had so much fun this year and is disappointed that he is out for the summer! I know that won’t last once he hits “big school” but for now it’s great! They got to ride pony’s, had a visit from the Fire Department, Police Department, Mailman, had Green Eggs and Ham one day, Water Day, Breakfast with Santa, and the occasional pizza parties for lunch! I really have to give the teachers credit because handling 12 kids between the ages of 2-3 is definitely a handful (there is only 2 teachers in his room with the occasional helper for special events)! Here are a few of the pictures that I got out of the camera. (Alan don't be mad about the last picture! I see it as blackmail about 15 years from now!)
